Have you recently started reading books again during the pandemic and your obsession was reborn for books? Well, do I have a treat for you!
Thanks to the new media platform, TikTok, you now have an entire world about books, and it is called BookTok, whether you want a new book recommendation, cosplay videos of your favourite characters, memes about certain books, or even just to look at other people’s pretty bookshelves, BookTok is sure to grab your attention!
We’ve even partnered with big brands such as Waterstones, to get on board with BookTok, and now they have a BookTok section of the most popular books on TikTok.
Using BookTok, I myself have read a lot of books that were hyped on TikTok and can recommend the ones worth reading to you.
The first is the book ‘The Song of Achilles’ which retells the Greek myth of the warrior Achilles, the book is told from the point of view of Patroclus, who is a friend that Achilles grows up with and ends up falling in love with. It is honestly a very cute and heart-warming novel, that I think everyone should at least read once in their life.
If you want a bit more of a challenging book, containing complex characters and intense world building, then I offer to you ‘The Priory of the Orange Tree’ which is a book about fantasy and magic, written from multiple points of views, giving you an all-round glimpse into this books universe.
There are also a few books series that I definitely recommend, and they are all fantasy and magic, with faeries and strong female characters, which is honestly my favourite thing in books.
The first series is ‘The Cruel Prince’ by Holly Black, then we have ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ and ‘The Glass Throne’ which are both written by Sarah J Maas.
There also plenty more recommendations on BookTok, that I can’t even remember half of them, as I myself am still working through them, but I highly suggest that you check it out for yourself.
