As of October 2021, Nintendo has offered a new subscription tier.

As well as the regular content that comes with the standard ‘Nintendo switch online’ membership (such as online play, NES and super NES games, save data and cloud backup, the Nintendo switch online app and special offers), with a hefty extra £28.50 per year, the expansion pack allows you access to a range of games, from the Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive consoles, as well as the Paid DLC: ‘Happy Home Paradise’ for Animal Crossing: New Horizons (costing £22.49 on its own without the Nintendo online expansion pack subscription).

The games that already came with the expansion pack were: Super Mario 64, Lylat Wars, Dr. Mario 64, Paper Mario, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Yoshi’s Story, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart 64, Sin & Punishment, OPERATION WINBACK, Golden Axe, Shining Force, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes, Contra Hard Corps, Strider, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Phantasy Star IV, Ristar, Musha, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Ecco the Dolphin and Castlevania Bloodlines.

However, on the 17th of December, Nintendo added 5 new SEGA Mega Drive games to the growing list! With well-known titles such as Altered Beast, ToeJam & Earl, Dynamite Headdy, Sword of Vermillion, and Thunder Force II.

This addition now brings the total number of games available with this subscription tier to a grand total of 29! (19 SEGA & 10 Nintendo 64 to be exact)

Nintendo have also come out saying that they plan to release 5 more games from the Nintendo 64 as well, (The Legend of Zelda, Mario Golf, Banjo- Kazooie, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Pokémon Snap). However, it is unknown as of yet to when this will be.
